The Welsh Government has commissioned a review of homelessness legislation in Wales which aims to:

  1. Assess the impacts and identify key deficiencies in existing homelessness legislation in Wales
  2. Draw on lessons from across the UK and Europe, and the perspectives of stakeholders in Wales, to identify what changes are required to prevent homelessness more effectively
  3. Undertake an impact analysis of new legislative proposals

The review will be led by Dr. Peter Mackie (Cardiff University) in partnership with Heriot Watt University, Swansea University, WISERD and Tamsin Stirling. The review will build upon an initial study conducted in March 2011 that explored stakeholder perspectives on the deficiencies in the homelessness legislation in Wales.
